A significant change occurs today! By sidereal calculations used in Vedic Astrology {true astronomical calculations, visible in real time in the sky}, slow-moving and highly influential Jupiter, just moved from one constellation to another ~ from Libra to Scorpio - from an airy Venus-ruled sign to a watery Mars-ruled sign. This grand shift means that for the next year, Jupiter will be in a new bhāva {house} in your horoscope, thus "alighting" new life themes. Big and benefic Jupiter is generally associated with luck, gains and good fortune, yet, as with everything in Vedic Astrology, the influence of such a change will vastly depend on the planet's specific condition and location in your individual horoscope, your karma-map if you will. Still, we can look to certain expected patterns to get a glimpse at what may be to come. First let's look simply at Jupiter. Jupiter often connotes matters of:
Why is this change significant?Inner planets ~ Mercury, Venus, Sun and Moon change signs frequently, marking small ups, downs and changes. Yet outer planets {Saturn and Jupiter} move slowly and their transition to a new sign can often mark a significant shift in your life. Where the moon changes signs roughly every 2.25 days, and the Sun each month, Jupiter moves to a new sign only about once annually, taking roughly 12 years to traverse the whole zodiac. A move of Jupiter can signify such major life changes as a pregnancy, an up or downturn in investments, or the appearance of a significant teacher or advisor in one's life. Again, the details will depend on Jupiter's location and condition, and how it is interfacing with your entire horoscope {not to mention the play of your free will given the circumstances of your karma!} The change from Libra to Scorpio, marks a likely improvement for many.Libra has a more mercantile nature, which is not simpatico with Jupiter's royal constitution. In Libra, we can expect Jupiter to stimulate moderate gains and losses with regard to basic material goods, as we might see in the market place. A location in Mars-owned Scorpio is a better natural alignment for Jupiter. Jupiter and Mars are natural comrades, making for a positive relationship when Mars is "hosting" Jupiter in his home of Scorpio. A time for deep study or preparation.Regal and contemplative Jupiter feels right at home in Scorpio, which has a subterranean, secretive or “underground” nature. Here, Jupiter's proclivity for philosophy and wisdom can thrive. Thus, this time can be about the introspection, deep study, contemplation, preparation, or research period necessary for a positive gain or change to be ultimately escorted into the light of day. Kapha on the rise.Jupiter is a Kapha planet {Āyurveda's biological constitution associated with water and earth}. As Jupiter moves to the watery sign of scorpio, we see a doubling up of the water element. In addition, Jupiter rules rich foods. It happens that this move occurs just as we move closer to the bogginess of winter and the sweet-delights of the holiday season. Kapha may be on the rise, so it's a good time to watch out for
You can take advantage of some of Kapha's positive attributes including:
While enjoying the "richness" of Jupiter, it is also a good time to begin an exercise routine {motivated by self care, not appearance}, start a journaling ritual or take advantage of the "richness" of Jupiter, by choosing truly nourishing foods and habits, rather than going for the junk or comfort foods with less value or vitality. Financial markets may flatlineRemember that Jupiter in Scorpio is less about big growth, and more about pulling back and preparing. Thus, at this time we expect to see financial markets begin to pull back {in fact this began already this past week as Jupiter entered its transition zone into Scorpio}. We may even see a bit of a flatline in the markets. Be cautious and contemplative rather than risk-taking. This is not a good time to expect a good yield or return on investment. Jupiter in the TraditionJupiter, named Guru in Sanskrit, is said to be the advisor or counselor of all the planets in the night sky, delivering the wealth of wisdom, riding on an elephant, and adorned in the color gold. A well placed Jupiter can bring great good fortune and truly good counsel, if one's will is pointed according to their karmic potentials. Jupiter and You.An individual session is the best way to see how Jupiter's change will impact you. As always, it is best to have a reading when you have a true inner curiosity or question, or an outer life change or decision ~ the frequency of readings depends on you. Of course, Jupiter being the ruler of good counsel, his movement in the sky may stimulate a need for a Jyotish consultation! Consultations {and ongoing followups} available by phone.
